A New Model for Holocaust Education
Designed by educator and curriculum architect Alexandra Cirone, the LEDI Curriculum is a comprehensive, trauma-informed learning framework engineered specifically for today’s students.
It moves beyond rote memorization to foster deep emotional and intellectual engagement, using art and storytelling to connect history with modern human rights issues. This inquiry-based model has already been adopted as official Holocaust education by major school districts, including the Jacksonville, FL Board of Education.
Students learn the full lives of the women and girls of LEDI—their talents, relationships, aspirations, and potential. This builds empathy and personal connection before discussing the atrocity of the Holocaust.
Every lesson balances emotional truth with psychological safety. Students engage with difficult history in a structured environment guided by trained facilitators to ensure a supportive learning experience.
Original paintings, animations, musical compositions, historical photographs, and primary sources become entry points for analysis, reflection, and conversation.
Students examine how hatred is built, how propaganda spreads, and how small acts of courage can disrupt systems of violence.
Lessons connect the Holocaust to modern issues: antisemitism, racism, identity-based violence, refugee crises, and the responsibilities of upstanders today.
Students leave with concrete tools for standing up to hatred, cultivating empathy, and using their own voices and talents to build a better world.
